Allergic reactions to vaccines are much more common in dogs than in cats. What you seem to be describing is very normal. It should NOT last a week or more as other people suggest. A normal reaction to a vaccine will last about 24 hours and might include lethargy, not wanting to eat or play, soreness at the injection site, crying when being picked up and maybe an episode or two or mild diarrhea or vomiting. This is normal and is like what humans might experience when they get a flu shot. What is not normal is if it lasts more than 24 hours, if the animals is having difficulty breathing or is breathing rapidly, if there is facial swelling or a lot of diarrhea or vomiting. This would indicate a possible allergic reaction and needs medical treatment. And even if your pet has never had any type of reaction to vaccines before he or she could always have one at their next vet visit as vaccines are constantly being modified and improved.

No, but that happened to my friends cat. Turned out that Rescue was allergic to the vaccine, so he has to get an extra shot before he gets his vaccine, so he does not get sick.

Yes, this has happened to my cat. Unfortunately different cats react differently to the different vaccine. Unless it is extremely severe or goes on for more than 2 days you usually dont have to take back to the vet.
