just p*ss her off trying to play? We already went through the territory thing. They play together now. I just brought one home after being gone for a while, and she seems bored and lonely, but I also just got a call that the other one is sick, and I'm trying to figure out how to get out to get her & take her to the vet & get her home... but I'm worried that she WILL die, and Brehyna will be sad, or that she'll be sad & worried that Shasta is sick, but also worried that she'll be too excited wanting to play, and won't leave Shasta alone to feel better.

Dogs are very territorial. I have a Boston Terrier, and decided to buy another one... My older dog got so depressed and withdrawn I had to actually take the puppy back.

i have a friend who has a male maltese for 10 years already. he has always been the only dog in the house. then one day, my friend found an abandoned & dying golden retriever on the roadside. they bought him home, worrying the worse. but the maltese was actually acting like a big brother to the golden retriever. the maltese slept beside the golen retriever, pick up his toys & put it near the golden retriever's side! he is very protective of the BIG DOG. he let the big dog eats 1st & will alert my friend if the big dog became weak suddenly. now that the golden retriever's condition has stabilized, it's really cute to see both of them together, & the maltese is like 5 times smaller than the big guy!

Dogs are pretty sensitive when it come to a sick one. I have raised dogs since 1968, and have found that the well ones have sympathy for the sick ones.
