My 8 1/2 year old cocker spaniel is jealous of any attention we give he kitten. He will come up and jump on anyone that has her. He is not receiving any less attention. He is also peeing in the same area as her litter box. Nature's miracle isn't stopping it. I am reluctatant to crate him, because he HATES it. What can I do?

Definitly marking teritory. Our dog did this too. It took a while. He did it when he was young and then he did it again when we had our son! He wanted to make sure that our son didn't try to invade!

Good luck with it. I would look up things that have to do with dogs and their territory and how to help them to feel seccure. He isn't feel secure right now.

I agree, he's marking his territory.

Try separating them, the kitten in a room, the pup in the hall. Put the food bowls on each side of the closed door to feed them. This will help associate the newcomer with a happy activity, dinner time!

This will take several feedings. If you find your dog growling at the door, sensing the kitten is a bit to close, move the bowl further from the door, and inch it closer with each feeding. Dogs and cats can become lifelong buddies.

Good luck!

Maybe you should spend time with him too.I think that he's also trying to do the same method as your kitten.
