...very strong, cat.? I've tried putting them in his food but, firstly he isn't eating much because he has stomach pain and second he seems to know they are there and won't eat the food anyway. Holding his mouth open and dropping them down his gullet nearly landed me in hospital for stitches to my hand this morning so any ideas on a less dangerous approach would be welcome. (I have to admit the above did actually work but it also caused him a lot of pain which I would obviously prefer to avoid.) Thanks everyone. Unfortunately my cat became very much worse last night and I had to have him put to sleep.

Wrap Him In A Towel So He Cant Get At You With His Claws, After Opening The Jaw Push The Tablet To The Back Of The Throat Then Massage Throat To Ensure He Swallows. It May Help You To Have A Friend Assist You. And Remember You Arent Being Cruel. You Are Trying To Make Him Well. Good Luck And I Hope He Recovers Soon.

My mum and I have had to do this TONS of times the different things we did was: Crushed the pill and put it in the food. Force it into their mouth until then chew it. That's all we did 'cause my cats don't care if there is something in their food....but if that does't work try calling your vet to see if there are any other options.

I crush pills and put em in yogourt or get capsules and blend it with yogourt. No fuss no muss. I know pilling a strong cat has given me scratches and scrapes. I once ended up with one claw in the face.Yikes

Giving a pill to a very strong cat is sometimes a two-person job, so enlist help if at all possible. One person should wrap the cat firmly, but not painfully tight, in a large towel, making sure the cat's paws are enclosed in the towel. Have them hold the cat and talk reassuringly to it. Try approaching the cat's head from behind, rather than straight on towards his face. With your thumb and forefinger, open his mouth from as far back on his mouth as possible, not from the very front part of his mouth where his sharp canine teeth can bite you. Then place the pill as far back on the cat's tongue as possible, hold his mouth closed with his head tipped back a bit, and very gently massage his throat in downward motions. When the cat's tongue darts out of his mouth, the pill is down.
