| I know it almost never helps, but recently someone told me that it can actually be harmful, reinforcing the psychological problem. If anyone could tell me whether there's any truth to this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!! |

| I recently watched a TV show about this...Think it was on Oprah..I really can't remember, but, they had people on there that suffers from BDD, & yes plastic surgery can be addictive. It's true that BBD sufferers can stand & look in the mirror for hrs. at a time, but, it's not the outside appearance that is TRULY bothering them. It's a chemical in the brain that's not in balance. So they can get surgery after surgery, & yet still not be happy with their appearance, simply because, like I stated, it's not the outside that's truly the problem, it's inside.....And yes, the surgery's can be harmful as well. There was a lady on there that had had several nose jobs, & the DR. finally told her that he couldn't do anymore work on her nose. She had to carry around Q-tips & clean her nose, just be able to breathe good...They even mentioned that BBD may be what Michael Jackson suffers from, & it makes sense now.....but anyways, getting off subject now, but hope that helped some... |
