injury gets bad.? If it helps here's some details:

I live in Pennsylvania.

I have not yet been diagnosed with capral tunnel but tests have been ordered.

I just file a report with my employer and follow it up with a worker's comp file within two days after this.

Worker's Comp covers only injuries from on-the-job work or (in some cases) on-the-job situations that has exasperated a current injury.

Do not file a claim on something you think MAY happen. All claims are marked and if something does actually happen on the job, a good WC coordinator will look up any past claims you've made. You do not want to be flagged as a WC "player".

If you think the injury is caused at work, file first, see the Doc after, UNLESS it is a very dangerous injury.

(As a side note, your injury does NOT have to be so severe it stops you from work. WC also covers Dr. visits, even if they do not lead to light duty or termination of work)

If you've seen a doctor for it, a record will exist. There won't be any doubt when you started having problems, since it will be in your patient file.

Worker's Comp won't take you on unless you have an official diagnosis and notes from your physician stating that you are unable to do your job.

You don't have to file a claim...you just want to make sure you file a First Report of Injury or report the injury to your boss immediately.
