Diet Salt, Depending on your diet of course is normaly Potassium Cloride. This salt goes by many names, light salt, reduced sodium, salt substitute. The REASON that its diet salt is chemistry based. The Sodium in regular salt causes you to retain water. The water retention causes two things that I know of offhand.. The first is your blood pressure goes up because your blood has more water hence more volume. The second effect is because you have more water in you, you weigh more. Simply put every gallon of water is 8.8 LBS, its pointless weight loss unless you need to fit that darn pair of jeans or something, but that doesnt stop people who dont know its true effects from buying it.

are you talking about the popular brand called "Nu Salt?" that doesn't have any Sodium in it. Sodium has this thing for help U retain water. most docs just say- cut down on the "salt" & U cut down on your retention of water. Nu-salt KCl: is ... Potassium Chloride (by the way NaCl is sodium Chloride) but if U put is straight on your tongue, it just tastes salty... it may be a little bit stronger.

MOSTLY IT IS sodium chlorise its chemical formulae is NaCl . made up of sodium atom and chlorine. and all the salts commercially available have iodine added to it. which prevents on from a disease called goiter.
