| I bought a home theater in a box system and HDTV. I also have a xbox 360. When I had everything set up correctly, a friend suggested using Optical for best sound quality. I bought an optical cable at Best Buy and when I went home to use it, it didn't work. I did several options. I tested it with the XBOX. Put the optical in the xbox (optical out) and ran the cable into the receiver. I designated the xbox to use the digital not analog and no sound. I tried then using my TV. It had an optical out and still nothing. The receiver is set up correctly to receive digital (DTS). I am assuming that there might be something wrong with the cable. Any thoughts? Ok, one of the answers gave me a little more insite. I'm running DVDs, games and music (cd or mp3) from my XBOX360. I have it set to use Digital Dolby 5.1 When i take out the RCAs and leave the optical in, NO SOUND? WHY? |
