joint disorder)? I was recently diagnosed with TMJD (tempromandibular joint disorder). I get severe pain in my jaw joints which in turn causes severe pain in my ears. I have been eating ibuprofen like crazy. Which does help with the pain but I am bruising badly. I barely lean against anything and I end up with a bruise. I need to stop taking them. Warm moist heat does help, but I want to know if there is anything else that might help ease the pain.

To prevent, don't chew gum or habitually bite on things. I think I got mine from chewing gum in school all day. You can check with your doctor, and make a chart of when the pain comes, what you were doing, what you did to fix it, and then a rating scale to show the doc. The doc can give you a low dose muscle relaxant to stop the pain. Also, if you have someone around who can rub your shoulders and upper back and neck it may help. It helps me because I destress.

Oh, I've had TMJD! It sucks! What helped me most was structural integration. I tried Hellerwork and Rolfing is similar. I liked the Hellerwork experience so much, I trained to become a practitioner. Email me and I can give you detailed directions on how you can relieve the TMJ pain yourself. It's not something I want to post on yahoo answers.
