| ...sale my product in stores? My concerns and questions are: -I don’t want any one to steal my recipe for profit. -I don’t know where to go to protect my recipe. -I don’t know the steps I need to take to introduce this food product to the public -I want this product to be a successful business idea -I don’t know who to contact in regards to custom packaging the product following the US Food Standards. I have some ideas about how I would like the sauce to be packaged. -I don’t have much money to invest in this product and I don’t know how to go with this idea without spending so much money upfront -Who I need to be careful with (Manufacturing companies, packaging companies, labeling companies…) ? -What are the best companies out there that will be able to help me get this product in the market? -Is there a company that will be able to take my recipe, produce it in high quantity, package, label, and distribute all in one? |

| You picked one of the most saturated markets there is! Just go to the store and count the number of HS brands! You are going to have to build a reputation in the field. Start making it at home with labels printed at local print shop. Get bottles on line from food container companies. You can make small quantities at home, but if you get any bigger you will need a food license (see your local health dept.). Then hit every event in town with free samples - give samples to restaurants to try, get them included in gift baskets, go to food fairs, friend's parties, flea market - anything to get people talking about it and WANTING it. Its all about the HYPE. Also read the biographies of famous hot sauce makers and see how they got to market. You don't have to print recipe on label, just ingredients - most say salt, pepper, "spices". Read some labels for content. |
