| Because men don't give ugly women the time of day, and will overlook the plain ones. Women don't judge men on the basis of their looks nearly as much, so men don't worry about their looks. By way of comparison, consider lesbians and gay men. Lesbians are much less likely to be concerned about their appearance, because they are trying to attract other women, who don't care as much. Gay men are trying to attract other men, who do care about how their dates look, so we get Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and the like. |
