| Yes, the set of integers is designated by capital (and bold) Z. The word for integers in German begins with the letter Z and was first used by the German mathematician, Gauss. Little z, usally represents a number in the form: z = a + bi, where i=Sqrt[-1] and a and b are real numbers. These numbers are Complex Numbers. |

| As milkyway says, R is actually the real numbers, and Q is the rational numbers. The german word 'Zahlen' also, more importantly, means 'numbers.' Slightly more relevant than the verb 'to figure.' :-) |
