Well for starters, I'm 16 years old, female, and reside in the US and I am interested in a volunteer program in Madrid, Spain called PuebloIngles. To elaborate a little, the week stay and everything at the program is free, the only thing I need to pay for is my travel expenses. I'm really excited to go and I don't even know if I've been accepted to be a part; however, what concerns me is asking my parents about actually going to Spain. I've never travelled out of the country, or even travelled alone, and me going to Spain would require both of those.
I'm very confident I can do well alone and won't get hurt or lost or anything of that sort. Another thing that might pose a problem is the cost of the trip. According to checking various websites, the cost of the trip will range anywhere between $500-$1000, which is actually a VERY good deal for a supervised week trip to Spain. I had previously asked to go to a weeklong summer camp at a nearby college, but was rejected because the camp was $1150. So getting to go on this trip on the lower end of the price spectrum would be an amazing deal compared to the other trip.
With all this, I'm not confident on how to approach this and convince my mom and dad I will be fine on the trip and to allow me to go. I really need some advice to comfort my parents about me traveling abroad.

And if you have any other suggestions to make on this subject as a whole, please tell!

haha i'm 18 n my parents don't even let me drive on my own. good luck on that one
