If you know very little and believe everything you see on Fox News, then you are a Republican.

There is a very good quiz here: http://www.okcupid.com/politics that will let you know the "technical term" of where your ideals fit into. Yet you should really investigate each candidate for yourself and figure out what they really stand for before voting. Check out the links below for more information! thank you.

Just think about what issues you are for/against and learn what each party thinks about it.

The Ideology quiz is a good basic start. Also, don't make the mistake of tying political orientations strictly to parties. Also don't make the mistake of assuming all members of each party believe the same thing. There are moderate and even a few conservative democrats. There are moderate and somewhat liberal Republicans. There are hundreds of independent parties that don't win elections but might be a little more close to your political beliefs.

Further, don't let your beliefs be tied to your ideology or party. In other words, don't say "well, I am pro-choice so that makes me liberal so that makes me a democrat. I guess I oppose guns now too." Just find the candidate that best represents your beliefs when the time to vote comes around.
