| Well, neuroeconomics and game theory are explaining a lot of psychology through a evolutionary standpoint. In fact, evolutionary science is really making headroads into explaining such things as linguistics, anthropology, and cultural theory. Maybe the humanities haven't lost it's impact... maybe they have just morphed into a more concrete form of hard-science? As to philosophy... I asked a similar question on this site earlier. I asked why didn't more people think about philosophical matters. I got an interesting answer about how today's environment makes it harder to think about such things. I personally think that today's religions make it harder to consider philosophy. Most people don't seem to understand the concepts of science, logic, skepticism, or rational thought. |
