tow service.? When a truck stopped by, to offer help for $50 cash, when i said i don't have cash he said 'sorry' and went away, leaving me stuck when he could help only for money? Where is humanity, i have made up my mind, to help every needy whenever i could, not for money.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Here in Phoenix I had a flat on the freeway. A man in a truck stopped and changed it for me and wouldn't even accept payment.

That stinks!!! I guess it all depends on where you live as well. I have been fortunate to live in a state where if you are broken down for any reason...so many people stop that half are not needed lol. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but not all people are like that.

i've had an experiance like that. my dads transmission broke on our way to taking me to school, so we sat on the side of the road slowely making it closer and closer to a store, we ended up walking about a mile to some corner store, and walked back to the car, the transmission kicked in and out so we slowely got the car to the parking lot of the store, and waited for maybe 3 or 4 hours for a towtruck to come... fyi: this was in the winter in michigan, maybe 10 - 20 degrees. good news was i didnt have to go to school that day.

People, as a rule, are so stuck on themselves that they can't think of anyone else. I, like you, will reach out to those ini need and help if I can. If I can't, then I'll send them in the right direction. Either way, I have always and always will try to help those that need it...for I was taught, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Not your fault at all. But that is why I have a cell phone so I can call for help if I need it. Because people these days tend to network. And to get help from people outside of your own "web" of friends and relatives or people who "owe" you, it seems like everyone wants money to help you or they are afraid to stop and help you because they fear being taken advantage of by strangers. Still, this story is as old as the "Good Samaritan". Sorry it happened to you, hope today will be better.

What an absolute jerk. I am so sorry that happened to you, and I can't believe how hateful that was. I wonder where you are from? Here in TN, I can hardly check my oil without someone asking me if I am having car trouble. I often see cars on the side of the road with other cars pulled up behind them, etc. The last time I was stuck it was on a hill near our college- a bunch of boys from the dorms spent their afternoon pushing people. Once a man even FIXED MY CAR- I mean we went and I bought the parts & he spent over an hour fixing it and refused to take a dime! My husband had his car vandalized last week at the college- someone removed the valve stem from his tire. Along comes a guy whose dad is a mechanic & he had his work truck- he replaced the valve and used his air compressor to pump up the tire. His request for payment was to have the parking space as my husband was leaving! I am also very quick to help others (if someone is stranded, drops or knocks over stuff at a store, has trouble carrying something etc.) I would love to see the hurting these good ole boys here would have put on that guy! Especially to do that to a woman- it's just ridiculous! There are plenty of kind people out there- just make sure you are one yourself and have faith that not everyone is terrible. *Edited to add after reading below- yes people CAN still help others. I am not going to behave like an idiot & put myself in danger, but I just will NOT look the other way if someone needs help because I am scared of crime, etc. Part of the reason there is so much crime etc is the lack of neighbors helping each other- it feeds that whole mentality I believe. AAA is a very good idea though. Sorry for the rant.
