| My system runs fine other than it taking an amazingly long time to boot. I have checked my start-up, cleaned the registry. My disk acces light is on the whole time Thank you all so far, here is more detail; I am a power user so the obvious stuff I have tried. I run the latest Norton as well as WebRoot spysweeper. I have run process explorer as well as tcpview to look for unknow processes or network connections (spyware), nothing there. I have two gigs of ram. It almost seems like scandisk is running evertime I boot but I have no indication on the screen that this is so, just constant disk activity. My boot really does take over 40 minutes so this is much more than a domain timeout. Is there a way to have windows prompt me (Y,N) for everyitem that tries to start-up? I have tried selective start-up and basically shut everything off, no change. I thought I read somewhere that you could get windows to actually prompt you (Y,n) before every service, driver, and program loaded when booting but I can't rmember or find how to do this. Help! can't someone help me? |
