| I was just diagnosed with HPV virus. I had a pap smear in October of last year and wasn't diagnosed with it then. I want to know if it's possible that I had it and it didn't show up in the pap smear. If it is possible, how likely is it that that could have happened. |

| It is possible. Also, it can take up to 5 years after you are infected with HPV before it shows up on a pap smear. Talk to your GYN for more specific information including percentages. |
