Now wait a min. the Bible is a Referance to Christains!
I don't know who told you otherwise but sorry they're wrong. I am a Christain (i'm only fourteen years old but) that is where we get our guidence from the Bible and God. I know this is true!
Christain means follower of Christ so yeah of course we are going to use the Bible as a reference it tells us how to act.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Edit:

I think I get it now. Okay - you should use the Bible, but your faith must be tempered by your reason. If you're not guided by reason, then you're setting yourself up to follow whatever your church leaders choose for the interpretation of the Bible (and we know from history that church leaders can make big, big mistakes). With reason, though, you can hopefully find the truth as God intended you to find it in the Bible.

For this person to suggest that the Bible is not anything but the centerpiece of Christianity tells me they must be practicing another religion. I'm pretty open to theological options, and I do not believe that we should take every word of the Bible literally, but that does not mean I do not cherish and am guided by its history and teachings. You simply cannot separate Christianity from the Bible.
