Does it tell you to contact an attorney? Does it have a court date? They can't take you to jail for debt but they can take things you own. They can put a lien against your home or things you own. Maybe garnish part of your wages. You need to contact them right away.

If they summoned your in person then there will be a court hearing and if you dont go to it, then most likely it will be turned over to a government collection agency and the govetnment can take alot from you till its paid in full. like tax returns, social security and more. I would read the summons really good and if you cant pay it I would get a lawyer and fight it, or try to work out a payment plan. You wont go to jail!!!

If you received a summons, it is because you have long overdue debt on one of your credit cards. You will need to appear in court, so get an attorney to look into it. You will most likely not go to jail unless you are guilty of defrauding the credit card company. All they want is their money. You might get a fine and have to pay the court fees plus what you owe them.

Contact the phone number provide and set up an installment agreeement. And once set up make your payments. You won't go to jail so relax. Just pay that is the only thing you can do. They might tell you they want all the money owed but if you don't have i am sure they will accept payments. Good luck, cheer up everything will work out. And hopefully lesson learned.
