Genius? Practice? Attainable? Gift of Birth? What do these mean to you? No teen self proclaimed genius bragging. I want to hear logic and methodology. I'm not going to claim a winner. What the people who vote think. I would call the first post winner, because I believe the same.

These are just my opinions. Speed Mathematics - I think it's something you are born with. Can you practice and get faster? Yes, but never to the level of the geniuses that are born with it. Speed Reading - Learned. I think that there are some people who are more apt at this kind of thing then others, but I think it's learned. Perfect Pitch - definitely you are born with it. There IS no learning perfect pitch (and that I know for a fact as I was a music major in college). You CAN learn to recognize and sing pitches that you want, but when you do, it is then called RELATIVE PITCH.

I think there are those among us who have gifts of mental abilities that can be astounding. I don't know much about the first two, but I've had some experience with the third. I certainly don't have perfect pitch, but my level of relative pitch used to embarass my classmates in college. I really had no idea what it was that I was doing that was so much beyond what the rest of my peers were capbable of doing. And these students were all capable musicians in many ways. I simply had this ability. Now I don't consider that some genius accomplishment. I have no doubt there are many who can do it, not to mention those that have perfect pitch. It's not such a far leap from easily identifying note intervals to identifying notes. I can also tell you that this ability, once I stopped using it regularly, has diminished. In the end, I think it is largely a gift, but one that must be used and developed for it to attain its ultimate ability.

I am replying to your answer to the girl who wants an abortion. You've got it all wrong. It is the guy who should take the cyanide since he cannot keep his weiner in his pants.

Practice, plain and simple. You do something enough times you get better, faster, more equipped physically and mentally to handle it. Your brain needs as much exercise as the body to ward off future problems like senility and atrophy.
