...ranting endlessly over a cup of coffee? I consider myself liberal left wing, but no matter how much I rant against the government policies nothing seems to change. Everyday I reserve at least 15 minutes of my precious idle chit chat time ranting against the Bush policies and government... but nothing seems to matter? I protested the war on Iraq back like some 3 years ago. Nothing has happened since then. Wasn't that one enough? I do my part, I call Bu?sh funny names, I knit my eyebrows and tsk tsk tsk while shaking my head. I have a loaded bumper sticker. Yet nothing seems to stick. I can't possibly DO anything else can I?

Try ranting over an (American) beer. It would get your message to a whole new social layer.

do what your doing just do it on a pulpit at a church but get some credentials and your own church, this should work because the current administration will fold under the pressure of most religous wings left or right.

Because you need to do something very radical: craft a coherent message backed by a workable plan to make the world a better place, then (radical thought of all radical thoughts) get enough votes to win an election! :-P

There's a quote that I've heard which pretty much sums it up: "Democracy: Where any two idiots outvote a genius." There are too many people who have no idea what's going on but just voted for bush because their parents are conservative and possibly because he happens to have the same accent as them.

In a democracy, you need to convince a lot of people to vote the way you want things to go. Find a way to make people share your interest. You don't have to convince liberal left wings who are anti-Bush anyway. The people you have to convince are those who take a middle stand, and those who have balanced the evils of right wing and left wing extremities in favour of Bush in the last election. Probably the easiest way to overcome the votes is to convince the vast majority of non-voters to go to the elections.

I don't know. My dad tries the same thing, but as a right-winger, and nothing has happened yet. Maybe the two of you are cancelling each other out???

Ranting does very little. You should give the money you are spending on coffee to groups that are working on ideas you support. You should volunteer for the candidates and issues that you support. You should do action, not talking.
