If someone opens a credit card on your name, and after you find out, the person pays off all the credit card balance. Can this person still be in trouble? Meaning can this person be prosecute for it or go to jail??

Yes they can, especially if you file charges. CLOSE the account before they stop paying and you get stuck with the bills. Start monitoring your credit reports. I use truecredit from Transunion. I get alerts to changes in my reports. I really like it. I feel a lot "safer" being on top of things.

Yes. The penalty will be less severe because he paid the debt, however, he still committed a fraudulent act. Get a credit report to determine if any other accounts were opened in your name. This person had access to your social security number, date of birth and other sensitive information. I would press charges to relieve yourself of any unauthorized debt.
