As a tribute to all those innocent lives that were lost not only on that day but, in the War on terror fighting for their country.

Consider this - what do you do on November 11th to honor those veterans who fought to defend this country?

What do you do on the first Monday in September to honor those who labor in this country?

What do you do on the last Monday in May to honor those who gave their lives fighting for this country?

If you're anything like me (or the vast majority of Americans) you don't really do anything special.

While I'm not saying that the attacks on September 11th were not horific and terrible, odds are that in a few years September 11th would turn into another holiday that goes largely uncelebrated and Americans use as another day off.

September 11th was a tragedy, to be sure, but so was Pearl Harbor, the Wounded Knee Massacre, the Battle of Gettysburg, and countless other horrific events that cost American lives. The nation doesn't shut down to mourn them.
