| For 1 year now, the owners have known squirells live in the attic. Twice they put 'scatt repellant' through the hole but never repaired the damaged. There is a strong urine odor now. I have expressed my concern about the unhealthy conditions as well as the constant chewing to no avail. Do I have any legal rights as a renter; and how should I approach them with that info without getting evicted? Should they pay to have us relocated? |

| Does your city have a rent board? San Francisco does: http://www.sfgov.org/site/rentboard_index.asp I found their site by doing a search on "san francisco rent board" The rent board serves as an advocate/arbitrator in renter/landlord matters and may be able to help you. Until you're able to get help/arbitration from the rent board, I'd suggest putting all of your complaints in writing so you have a record. You may have a case for small claims court. |
