I saw on CNN yesterday how the presidents approval is up. For hours they were saying, and next the president's aproval rating is up, we've got the polls. Then they showed the polls, it was up 2 points. It was still in the margin of error. They repeat stories like that, which have little to no basis in fact. This is just one of many examples.

Repetition does not make something true.

I guess it depends on your point of view. Everyday the news tells us about how many soldiers died in Iraq but very little about the real progress taking place. My brother-in-law, who is in the military, just came back from Iraq and told us that great things are taking place.

When the news reported about Stanley Williams, it would only report news about those protesting the death penalty. You never saw the other side's position reported. But there was constant information about those against it.

Then there is the Supreme Court nominees. Do you notice how the only information the news reports about a nominee is where they stand on abortion? They never tell you about the nominees' history or qualifications.

I would say that there is a definite bias in today's news and a lack of really thorough news reporting.

It's a sad fact of cable channels having to fill 24 hours with news that apeals to an American audience.

You could make enough real news if you covered every news worthy event in every country around the world, but the general US audience would not watch that.

So we get repetition and 'fake' news and prepared proganda from government sources. Many recent stories about the White House making it's own news for example.
