i was in my crawl space trying to figure out what was leaking when i came across a sewer pipe that had rusted through. i cleaned up the area so the plumber would have better access but i'm feeling nautious. what are teh health risks? i'd think it couldnt be too great since plumbers deal with this on a regular basis.

As long as you didn't wallow in the sewage and/or have any open cuts, then I don't think that there are any serious risks envolved. Open cuts, though, can allow of pathogens and bacteria produced by your body- released through stool- to enter your blood stream and cause illness. Enough of it can actually kill you. But I don't think you'd be at any risks, considering the small amount of time you spent around the sewage pipe(s). May want to watch out for the rust on that pipe though... that can give you tetnis. ;P

Yes you were exposed. The question is did you pick up an infection of any kind? Did you shower when you got away? Start taking some vitamin C and E for a while as a bit of insurance. You will probably be all right unless your emune system is down.
