its about 3 years old now, my dvd writer drive on my pc. what it does is shut off sometimes. it just started a few days ago. sometimes its when i am ripping, sometimes when i am writing, sometimes it won't do it at all. but it just shuts the entire computer down. i thought it might be my software but then it also does it when try to burn a cd. i went into device manager and uninstalled the drive and then reinstalled it, still same problem. the device manager itself says that the drive IS working properly. anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
