My family is coming to our house for Christmas, and I will be asked to say grace over the Christmas dinner. I'm looking for a short (ie ~1 minute) but meaningful prayer to give thanks.

Thank God for all the family being together, for the fellowship that you are enjoying and thanks for the food.

If you want to pray to God, start by acknowledging who He is. Then praise Him for what He has done for you. Ask for a blessing (for the food or for your loved ones gathered together, a healthy new year, etc). Finally, thank Him for His Son, the reason for the celebration, and anything else you are thankful for. Use your own words and thoughts. It's OK to write it down if you need to, or just the main points. It does not have to be flowery language. God will hear you in whatever you choose to say. Don't worry about what your family or friends think. You will be fine! Best wishes and Merry Christmas!
