| Think of it in DNS terms - Addtional Domain is a new namespace (i.e domain1.com and domain2.com) that is a part of the same AD Forest. Child Domain is a sub-zone of an existing namespace (i.e. child.domain.com) New Tree is a completely separate set of domains. The key things are that all Domain Controllers in a Forest share information. In a forest the Domains provide only an Administration boundary. Different Trees \ Forests provide complete security separation as well, and the controllers share nothing between them. |
