| they'll get harder and drier .... You're cooking a small amount of batter for the same time as a large amount, so any liquid in there is just going to evaporate...so, in theory, they'd get smaller ![]() |

| They'll be smaller. They'll be dryer, harder. Because there is a smaller amount of mix to bake in each little cupcake compared to cake layers, each of which is an entire half of the whole amount (rather than one-twelfth or one-eighteenth). |

| As others have said, they become smaller and drier, harder/tougher. The top would be too brown and crusty. Try lowering the temperature by 10% and reduce cooking time by 25% (compared to the intructions for cooking the whole cake) |

| Your cupcakes will burn. It takes 15 minutes to bake cupcakes and about one hour to bake a cake |
