...and quit school help what to do. im ??? she is 18 and she quit school and has a car that we are paying for. it is in my name. she got picked up for a dui and got in jail one night. she constantly asked for gas money to haul her so called friends around. her car is falling apart. she wont listen to any of my advise and she is not on birth control. she had a job at mcdonalds and worked 2 days a week and it wasnt enough to pay for gas. she took her ged last week and we are waiting for the results. she want to be a nurse but honestly im at my wits end what to do. she is my child so i cant put her out and her car quit. transmission. so i still have to pay for the car. i work 2 jobs and my husband one job. she thinks since she is 18 she can do whatever she wants and come home whenever she wants and i just would love to hear her say i got a good job and am going to pay for my car and help you out but I pinched myself and figured out I was dreaming. ha. please help me sort this out. I dont know what to do anymore.

stop paying for her stuff. Unless she goes back to school and graduates, sell her car, don't pay her car insurance, cell phone, etc. Only help her out with needed expenses.

take away the car. say she cant drive it, her friends can pick her up. she needs to get a job full time if she isnt at school. only let her drive when she goes to work. im 19, and i work 5-6 days a week to pay for everything. my cars in my name and my dads name but they wouldnt let me drive it if i didnt pay the bills. dont spoil her. she needs to get her shit together. when she starts to pay for everything she will take care of it, if you pay for anything then make her pay you back. if my car broke down and i had to pay a lot of money then my parents would pay for it but id have to pay them back asap. so do that. no reason an 18 yr old shouldnt have to, treat her like an adult if she wants to do anything she wants.

Well, you started the problem by buying the car in your name and giving her gas money and working two jobs to maintain her lifestyle. I would sell the car. She can walk or ride city bus. Have you forgotten about Public Transportation and cabs? I also suggest a Family Therapist for all of you. You need to face reality. Someone has been feeding and financing the creation of this entire mess. It is not an overnight problem. Wake up!
