I was wondering if a Intel quad at 2.5 ghz would be better than a Intel core 2 duo at 3.1 ghz. I don't know much about computers so if anyone could tell me what is better about the intel quad, even if its at a slower ghz. Thanks.

Go for an alien ware ALX, with a 3.0 Ghz prossecor thats over clocked to 4.0 ghz if you want real performance. Ghz is speed, the amount of cores just makes it easier to do more things at the same time. go for speed if you plan on gaming! Also if you want a good speed computer go for a solidstate hard drive its tottally worth all the money, a solid state harddrive means that its much like a flash drive and you have extreme instant access to your files.

that would be a lot better but then if u get good cooling you could overclock it to about 3.5 ghz or more. but the main thing most people need right now is good video cards... so do lots of research on mother boards and video cards if you are going to build one.

for now i'd say go with the duo, cause there really isn't a game out there that really utilizes the quad core yet. Depending on what your playing is a big deal, but yeah I'd say go with the duo right now.
