My puppy is already on a schedule. I always carry him to the training pad each time he wakes up and praise and reward when done. He just started to poop each time after his breakfast, but during dinner he refuses to poop. I would stand there for 30 minutes with no results, bring him back in and punish him in the crate for 1-5 minutes, and take him back, for another 30 minute with no results. He would then get tired, after his dinner nap, (2 hrs later) i would take him to pee, but would not poop until he is in the house playing. I keep him on a leash to prevent accidents. I tried walking him around, which works during the morning...How can i make him poop after dinner? please help...

maybe he just doesnt have to poop right after dinner? Keep track of what time he is going.. start taking him out to poop at that time.

He is a puppy, and may have been on the same schedule for a long time, but his schedule may change as he matures too.

First of all, using he crate as punishment is a BAD idea. He could learn to hate it, refuse to go in, and if you ever have to leave him there for a few hours, he could get destructive. Crates should be a happy place for dogs. Your dog may not NEED to poop right after dinner. He's a growing dog, and his metabolism will be changing. If I was you, I'd wait 30 minutes before taking him to poop and don't punish him or yell at him if he doesn't poop just then. When you yell at him it makes him scared to go. If he has an accident, don't say "no" (he'll think pooping is bad). Just pick him up and take him immediately to his pooping spot.

Maybe he doesn't have to poop after dinner, if you keep pressuring him he may associate going potty as a bad thing and not want to do it. And please please don't use his crate as punishment, they should love going to their crate, it should be treated as their "bedroom "a very happy place to be.

think of a puppy as a baby... itll poop when it wants to. and when it does, show it to him and disapline him! you cant force an animal to poop. espically a puppy! we just got a 8 wk. old german sheppard, and he goes potty outside, but also inside cuz hes scared of the dark. he stopped pooping in the house, but he still pees. but we show him, disapline him, and put him outside. itll be like this for a while untill the dog gets the hang of going out side.. and correcting his mistakes are the best way to go. its good to try and prevent accidents, but their puppies, their minds dont comprehend "no" unless theirs a type of punishment along with it. espically if its a young puppy! when he does go potty on his pad, i hope you praise him and reward him. this is also a sign to the dog saying if i do go here, i get a treat, but if i go here, i get a spankin.. just keep trying different methods. eventually the puppy will pick it up. be pantient with the little one.

First of all, you should not punish him and put him in his crate as punishment. His crate should be a secure place where he can go and take naps and sleep and never be used as punishment.

Not all dogs poop immediately after eating. My own dog eats her dinner anywhere between 5 and 6 and doesn't poop until 11 at night. You can't make him poop if he doesn't want to or isn't ready. Not all dogs poop after eating.
