| Hi, I've had my computer for about 2 years without a single problem until now. Whenever I play the game Guild Wars (the only game I play on it) for more than 15 minutes or so, my computer starts beeping and the controls lock up and just seem to start doing whatever they want, making my character in the game run in random directions. 9/10 times, my cursor disappears, but that could be because it's supposed to disappear in the game while holding the right mouse button. I asked my brother, and he said it sounded like it was overheating and that I should dust out the inside, so I did, but it still does it. I opened the "ATI Catalyst Control Center" panel and kept an eye on the temperature. It hovers around 36 degrees Celsius when idle, and shoots up as high as 56 degrees Celsius while in game. Are these temperatures abnormal? If overheating is the problem, how can I solve it? If overheating isn't the problem, what else could it be? Thank you |

| Could be your processor overheating? If this is the case, dust it. About your graphic card, it is a little bit too hot. There are many fancy way to do this, but to cool it down, I prefer the cheap n good ol' method. Simply remove the side panel of your pc and place a table fan blowing into it. If you employ this method, you should dust your computer more often, though. Another probability is that your Operating System is having problems. If you wish, try this out: Back up any important data you have (saved games, presentations, documents, videos, music). Then, get a Windows CD ready. Insert the CD into your computer and boot it using the CD. Format your harddrive and install a fresh copy of Windows. That's all I can think of for now..... Good Luck! |
