Since everyone's nutritional needs are different and unique, the best advice is to consult with your doctor. He / she will likely refer you to a nutritionist / dietician to assist you in meal planning, etc. Besides the obvious low-sugar / no-sugar plans, also try to watch out for the carbs. Carbs are often metabolized as sugar / glucose and will cause your blood glucose levels to rise in much of the same ways. Avoid starchy foods such as potatoes and pastas. Also, breads are high carb foods. You should probably also keep an eye out for your sodium intake. High blood pressure and diabetes go hand in hand and sodium can contribute to this. Avoid eating excess amounts of salt. Cholesterol is another issue that goes hand in hand with being diabetic. Avoid eating a lot of fried foods and a lot of excessively fatty foods. Drink lots of water, tea (unsweetened or artificially sweetened) or diet soft drinks and avoid drinks with high sugar content (reg. soft drinks, Kool Aids, etc.). As with any diet, moderation is the key. Learning to control your portion sizes at meal time is the best way to keep a watch on your diabetic diet. You can still eat the "good stuff" (like sugar, salt, fried foods) as long as you are very cautious of over-indulging. Good luck and best wishes...

Go to a nutritionist and have them give you dietary guidelines. Stay away from any frozen dinners. You need processed food like a hole in the head. Learn to cook your own food. Exercise, Exercise and oh yes, EXERCISE! Diet alone does not control Blood Sugar. But a One Touch meter and check your Blood Sugar DAILY!

Okay this is kind of more a question for your nutritionist (which you should have!) but you really should try Lean Cuisine, they have some great choices they are low in Carbs and taste soooo good. Carbs are really important to look out for also, sodium in some diabetics you have to look out for but I don't. But u should really look into getting a nutritionist, they can give you some great meal ideas and recommendations. Be safe and stay healthy and good luck with your diabetes care!
