...a brand new computer? I have a older compaq desk top and am new to computing. I wish to delete the current programing to the point where this computer came out of it's box. Then reload my windows XP home addition and start fresh? How do I acomplish this. I do not wish to keep any old files or programs as these are why I want to delete all programing. I've tried deleting all I could then re install my windows disc, but the old files and such remain?

Backup any essential files, boot from your Windows CD and format the destination drive where you wish to install Windows, once formatted, Windows will install automatically.

If you don't want to keep your old files, boot with your Windows XP CD and repartion & Format your drives and then install windows. This will make your harddisk to start fresh.
