| I can't download those free anti-adware things like avast, etc because it says it's blocked by my "security zone policy". Should I try it in safe mode? Or what? |

| Try this first: In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > set the security level to the default setting. The default setting is "Medium" if you are using Internet Explorer 6. And "Medium-high" if you use IE-7 or IE-8. (If you don't know your version , click Tools > About.) Do NOT set the security settings any lower! Never! Now try to download and install your anti-XXXXX program once again. But be aware that many modern malwares (virus, spyware, adware etc), will intentionally disable the installation of anti-malware programs, for self-protection. Safe-mode is worth a try, before you have to use advanced malware removal techniques. But be prepared...back-up all your data ASAP....in these sort of cases, a reformat and rte-installation of Windows is often necessary. Best luck. |
