If you keep having problems, disable your virus scanners & go to (www.trendmicro.com). Run their HouseCall virus scan...the best I've found. If it still finds anything, you can go to their encyclopedia section, look up the virus & it will give you a step by step to remove it entirely if, in fact, it can't remove it itself.

Did you remove it with Norton Antivirus or the STANDALONE Symantec removal tool. In my experience, the standalone tools work better. Additionally, the web pages they are posted are are very specific and helpful if you have trouble removing the viruses. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.vundo.removal.tool.html McAfee has a page for it also: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_127690.htm

Most likely what is happening is that Norton doesn't recognize that that specific file has been removed. Delete all traces of the file and run Norton virus scan again.

turn off system restore FIRST, run you AV scanners,, reboot once to verify they are gone , then turn it back on, otherwise itWindows will make a copy in the restore bin, and it can respawn from there ( as some virus are coded this way ). Perosnally I ran AVAST or AVG both offer free version and are not system resource hogs like Norton or McAffee.

Some viruses cannot be removed if they happen to be running. In some cases, the anti-virus application will keep running because it can't remove the virus because the virus is executing its processes. My recommendation is to reboot into safe-made (go to Start > Run > Type msconfig > hit enter > go to BOOT.INI and select Safeboot, click ok and restart. Once you have done so run your anti-virus application and it should be able to remove the virus. However, if it is an infected file it may not be able to clean it, even in safe mode and you will just have to delete it or quarantine it. If you want to try another Anti-Virus application, I like AVG Free edition better than Norton or Symantec. But as I said, see if running in safe mode will correct your problem. Once you have run them in safe mode follow the same steps and uncheck Safeboot to get back to your normal operating state.
