I have a laptop and home pc both Dell made. Both run Win XP. But my desktop originally ran Win 98 until I put XP on it. I want a list of what is on the hard drive of each computer I have, to know what my hard drive space/memory is being used for. Is there a place that I can look or a series of commands I can type to find out?

Do you use a Mac or PC? If you do not know, say "I don't know". Macs are made by Apple, and have an Apple logo somewhere on them or on the screen. Windows computers have a Start Menu. If you go to Start-->Run and type "winver" (without the quotes), and then ENTER, you will get the Windows version. I need to make sure you are running Windows 95 or later (XP?) or Mac OS before I can answer this question.

If you want a list of files, then open a command prompt, go to the root of each drive and do something like: dir /s >list.txt Try dir /? to see various other switches you can use.
