Depending on what operating system you are using, you should be able to insert the OS disk before startup, you will be prompted to boot from disk. anwser yes and an option to reformat the HD will appear. This will delete all data off your HD and will reinstall the OS.

doesn't work. Any ideas?
The error message I get is "invalid drive specification" and it reverts back to the a: prompt. I am using a 3.5 boot disk that I created on the machine. Also, as background, when I boot up the machine normally, windows does does work but with very limited functionality I can run windows functions but not any programs) so perhaps the hard drive is mostly fried and maybe that affects my ability to re-format?? I don't know. Thanks for all your help.
