For the third time yesterday after driving it for 40 min or so I stopped and when trying to turn it on again it wouldn't... like the battery was flat.
I managed to jump start it all of those times, but a mechanic tested my battery and it seemed fine, so did the alternator. Would it be the start motor? If there was a problem with it would jump start work???

Your battery terminal may need to be replaced. Bad connection.

There's a possibility that it's the starter, the windings may be bad inside and the extra voltage from the other vehicle may have helped. But more than likely it's a bad battery terminal and when he put the cables on it moved the cable enough to make contact again.

I had this problem once, It was a short with the trunk light it stayed on all the time and drained my battery, I couldn't figure it out until I noticed a light on when it was dark. Check all lights when it is dark also see if you have a battery relay it could be that, It is not the starter,Something is draining your battery.Get your alternator checked again. To check yourself start the car and unhook the positive battery cable if the car stalls it is the alt, If it does not it is not the alt. Good luck

it might be your battery your battery has a dead cell charge it up on a low charge for about a hour or two then let it set over night with out a charge take the battery and get it tested also check your batter cables and all of ground wires and on some models you will have a battery fuse on the positive side cable or at the fuse box under the hood
