| There is a Hyundai Accent for sale near my home. It is a 1999 4 door with 107,000 miles. He just put a new alternator, exhaust manifold, tires, and timing belt on the car. I know the automatic transmitions are crap but this one is a 5 speed. Are they any better. He is selling it for 1700. What do you think |

| I have a 2000 Accent with 90k miles and I would advise you to have it checked by a mechanic thoroughly before you sink any money into it. I have had a lot of problems with lights working, including one that I currently have where my headlights go off when I turn on the bright lights. I also had to have both front wheel bearings replaced at 70k miles. The 5 speed is one of the things that has given me no problems. All in all, I would have to say that you would be better off looking at a Honda Accord or another "name" brand in that time range. Hyundais have improved greatly in the past couple of years, but, they did have their problems back then. |
