I am new to road biking, I recently bought a GTR series 4 from Performance sports and I was wondering, what are the things I should be checking on my bike from every day to every week.

Can someone give me a good maintenance tip, Thanks.

You get free performance checks if you take your bike back to the store where you purchased it. You only need to do this maybe once a month if you ride it alot in a given month. This check includes brakes and shifting, NOT cleaning, that is up to you. You should always check the stem, handlebar, derailleur, pedal and seat binder bolts/ screws for tightness before you ride and after each ride. Keep your drive train clean. Store the bike inside not out and wipe it down with a clean dry rag after every ride. Use ONLY the proper lubes to maintain it properly. Substitutes will NOT be adequate. Your local Performance store has everything you need to properly maintain your bike and if you ask they should be able to point you in the right direction. Your cables on shifters and brakes will stretch over time and you should learn how to adjust this yourself (bicycletutor.com for step by step instruction) and your local store often holds instruction classes on how to maintain your bike too. Ask them when....Maintaining a bicycle properly is mandatory if you want it to last otherwise if you loose interest then your bike will loose interest in YOU!

Just make sure you bike is dry so nothing will rust, check if you you chains are oily.
Or just drop it off in the bike shop once every few months and get a tune up.

always check the chain to make sure it is lubed, check your brake pads every once in a while. check your chain rings and cassette for odd wear marks on the side. if there are take your bike to a shop to have them adjust the derailleurs. check tire pressure. squeeze the sides of the tire. the sides should give minimal to no give. and when your riding, check the tires for a like flat spot on the bottom where the sides push out a little. if they do, increase the pressure. check your fork for splinters and cracks. youll be set.
