| Primarily aluminum and specialized alloys. A lot of advanced composites (plastic and fiberglass) are being increasingly used. Some titanium is still used in turbine engines. |

| I love such questions I've met a similar questions before, and tell you what - the metals are many ![]() As it was already said - aluminum. That's true to some extent, but to be more precise, you need to say duraluminum. This is an alloy similar to aluminum but with better anti-corosion properties and also stronger and lighter than just pure aluminum. And that's just one part of the plane is... many other parts can include steel and even many modern supersonic planes like the Russian Mig-25 or Mig-31 have titanium to withstand the great temperatures from their ultra-powerful engines ![]() Not to say about all the current research that is conducted on new technologies such as stealth - there, scientists make some God-only-knows-what crazy alloys that I have no idea what they are... |
