|  I believe Audi bought them a few years back. The auto industry is plagued by ups and downs and changes in technologies and consumer tastes. So, there has been much consolidation in the industry. Look at Ford as an example. They also own Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin. |
