This is a discussion on Why are there so many BMW motorcycles in the SF Bay Area (CA, USA)? within the Cars and Bikes forums, part of the Main Category category; I'm curious why there are more BMW motorcycles here than anywhere else in the states. Even Munich perhaps!...

| Distribution, purchasing, and marketing. Why are there so many ducati's and Aprilia's in SF Bay Area? Don't forget this place is sometimes considered the "mecca" for motorcycling in the USA. Laguna Seca and all of the twisty back roads have people always talking. You will see more bikes here than almost any other place (so cal is close). |

| BMW motorcycles have a reputation for being ultra-conservative and reliable. They seem to attract an older, more sporting group of riders than the Harley-Davidson cruiser/chopper style bikes. BMW motorcycles are usually fairly quiet, almost stealthy. Normally you won't find BMWs riding in large groups, therefore, you probably don't notice them unless you're actively looking for them. I have seen many more BMWs on the road since I bought my own Beemer a few years back. Now I notice them all over the country. |
