officer pulled me over...? But I just have to go to court. It was my bf's car and I HAD to drive it, or either I'd be stuck hundreds of miles from home with no money or family around. Anyway, my bf didn't register the car, but the cop kept telling me that he couldn't write me a ticket cause technically I was in AL. So he called an AL cop, but the FL cop (who kept saying he couldn't write the ticket) still wrote it....then he went on about how he could've arrested me if I was in FL, but my thing is... he kept telling me I was in AL; I didn't get arrested; I have to leave for court late Sunday night. I guess I don't get why he told me all that, but I have to go to court in FL. I was in AL, so shouldn't I have to go to court here? But I think in AL, you just get a ticket and have to pay it. I know in FL, there's more involved. I guess I'm wondering what the worst is that can happen, cause it's scaring me. I've never had any tickets before, and MY car and all was registered. But this whole FL/AL issue is getting me.
TO NICOLE_B_2003:

My license is in AL. The cop just kept telling me that HE couldn't do anything, so I'm thinking that's the whole reason why the AL cop was called...but the next thing I know the FL cop's writing the ticket. I just don't get it. (PS, I put the name in all caps just so you'd see it... I wasn't shouting. lol)
To MAXINE:

So they were playing this mind game purposefully? I mean, that's cool if they were trying to help me out, but if that was the case then maybe the FL cop should've just not told me all the "if's" of FL if I wasn't there... But the thing is I'm going w/o a lawyer; I don't have time to get one, nor the money really.

I think the cops did you a favor. Fla cop would have to take you to jail if in Fla. He had knowledge of a crime so he was required to report it to Ala. authorities or risk reprimand or losing job. Ala. cop must have felt sorry for you because he let Fla. cop write citation. Get lawyer, go to court, it will be tossed out and cops knew it when they wrote ticket, else-wise, you would have gone to jail until someone could bail you out. I think you owe those two cops a thank you.
